Manager (Full Time)
William Lyon MacKenzie Co-op
Full time position –– Federally funded (56.1)
Housing Co-operative located in the Steeles/Bathurst area. The successful
candidate will be responsible for financial management and co-ordination
with the Bookkeeper; supervision of a full-time Administrative Assistant
and Maintenance Co-ordinator. The Manager will research major maintenance
projects and assist in day to day maintenance. The Manager will maintain
strong communication links with the Board, Committees, Members and the
General Public.
Qualifications
Preference will be shown to applicants with extensive
co-operative management experience and strong financial management skills.
Must be able to work with little supervision and effectively with the
Board and be able to plan annual management programs (administration and
maintenance). Must be available for at least two evening meetings a month.
Experience with Quick-Books, MS Word and the Internet
an asset.
Salary will reflect experience.

Senior Manager (Full Time)
Robert Cooke Co-operative Homes
Robert Cooke Housing Co-operative is a 151-unit high-rise
and townhouse co-operative in the Islington-Lakeshore area of Toronto.
The co-op is 11 years old and has a diverse membership. The Co-op is looking
for a senior manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of
the Co-op, under the Board’s direction. A full-time maintenance
worker, full-time administrative assistant, full-time cleaner, and a contract
bookkeeper make up the staff complement.
Responsibilities include:
- Financial Management
- Property Management
- Government and Corporate Relations
- Legal Issues, Arrears and Subsidy Agreements
- Membership and Community Development
- Supervising staff and contractors
- Reporting to the board of directors
Qualifications: Applicants must have experience in housing
management, with strong co-op housing experience and references. Applicants
will be evaluated on:
- Organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in supervising staff and contractors.
- Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets, database
and knowledge of New Views
- Knowledge of property management and co-op administration.
- Knowledge of the Social Housing Reform Act, and Rent-geared
–to-income administration
- Experience in acting as a resource and support for
the Board of Directors, for committees, and for community development
work.
- Ability to work with volunteers in a diverse community
This is a two-year position, with the possibility for extension,
equalling 35 hours a week with some evening work. The co-op is willing to
discuss assigning some community development work to another person, with
a corresponding reduction in the manager’s hours. The Co-op offers
